Celta Vigo defender Oscar Mingueza has revealed a bad relationship. With former coach Xavi Hernandez was the reason he left Barcelona. The club that gave rise to the
La Masia product, who first broke into the senior team under Ronald Koeman in 2020. Went on to make 66 appearances in all competitions across two seasons before being sold under Xavi Hernandez for €3m. Mingueza has become a key figure
in Celta’s defence, making 12 appearances this season. Scoring two goals and providing five assists as they sit 11th in the table, and has recently been recalled to the Spanish national team. Mingueza returns to Celta’s La
Liga home game against his former club this weekend. And speaking ahead of the game, he was quizzed about his departure:
“When Xavi came in, we didn’t get along very well. He didn’t like me or maybe for whatever reason,” the 25-year-old began.
“Xavi said that I would only play 10 games. สมัคร ufabet I don’t think he’s the head coach with the best attitude in the world either. “
I want to train to play. That’s why I left Barcelona, I tried to find my determination and joy in playing football, to improve myself.”
This past summer, Barcelona, under new manager Hansi Flick. Were link with a return to the club with Mingueza, but the player played down the speculation and paid tribute to his former team-mate:
“The club was in an important moment and I met the same end as almost everyone else. As a defender, when you make a mistake you get hit hard,” Mingueza continued.
“Now we have to value what Pau Kubarsi, Marc Casado and many others are doing for Barça. They will make mistakes too, but we should not undermine players when they happen.”
