Mohamed Salah has returned to Liverpool after Egypt allowed him to withdraw from the trip to Mauritania.
Egypt coach Hossam Hassan has revealed he allowed Salah to return to the club due to concerns over the artificial pitch in Mauritania.
“If a player asks not to play on an artificial pitch, I will say yes,” Hassan said. “
Mauritania is a very aggressive team. Their pitch is not in the best shape. If Salah asks not to play, I will say yes.”
A statement from the Egyptian FA read: “The technical staff of Egypt’s senior football team led by manager Hossam Hassan held a meeting with Mohamed Salah, the captain of the Pharaohs. It was agreed during the meeting to rest the player from the upcoming match.”
The two sides met on Friday, when Egypt won 2-0 at home, with Salah scoring the ยูฟ่าเบท final goal.
They have now completed a nine-point Africa Cup of Nations qualification campaign. Meaning Hassan will not be trouble if they fail to secure victory in their next game. Salah
has become the latest Reds player to withdraw from the national team and return to his club. After their captain Virgil van Dijk return from international duty. With the Netherlands after being sent off,
Curtis Jones also withdrew from the England squad for personal reasons.
